Minnesota State Fair Ya'll!

Once upon a time (about two weeks ago), the women folk in the Adams family decided that we were big girls and could travel across the country by ourselves - so that's what we did. (Eric was invited but he had to work, so it was just us girls).
So we headed to the airport to catch our first-class coach ride to the land o' lakes.

Here Emily checks out our sweet ride..

Our main purpose of the trip was to visit these awesome ladies.

Seriously, they're awesome, and they took us to this place...

We went to the MN State Fair and had a GREAT time. It really is something to see. Lots of sights to see, great entertainment and the best part is the food!

Here's Emily with the 2nd largest pumpkin. We didn't eat it - but we did eat lots of other things...

Like fried cheese curds (Side note: my favorite item of the day)

We rode things like this. Even Grandma was a sport and rode it too.

Back to eating... we had "Pronto Pups" - the non-corndog corndogs.

They taste even better when you wear the hats....

At the dairy barn, we got milkshakes and icecream cones and watched a "princess" get carved in butter. It was all dairylicious...

Deep fried Twinkie - both delicious and disgusting...

Here Emily sums up the time we had at the fair.

It was a long journey to get there, but it was well worth it.

And this was just the first day of our time in MN. More pictures of the rest of our visit coming soon.

Quick Update

So we've been a little slow on the postings lately. There really hasn't been too much going on recently, but here are some pictures of some of the activities happening with the Adams'.Emily went to Grandma's house and got to hang out with her cousin Austin
(they both look like they're ready to pounce - Gma must have pulled out snacks)

We were making dinner a few days ago and noticed that it was awfully quiet - a little too quiet - this is what we found. She had gotten a book and was quietly "reading" to her baby. Maybe this is her classroom, maybe she's going to be just like Dad. :)

We had our friend Liam over last weekend - he and Emily formed the "boots with shorts brigade."

Grandpa came for a visit and brought gifts from Alaska! Here Grandpa is helping Emily put on her new Alaska socks. She LOVES these socks. Seriously, I've never seen a kid love a pair of socks so much, she wants to put them on almost everyday.

Eric is the new Forrest Gump....

So Eric ran another 5K last weekend. This one was here in town and was a "retro" run - hence the headband. The run was scheduled for 7pm and it was hot hot hot! Luckily, it rained right as the race was about to start which helped to cool everything down before the run.

Check out the number they assigned Eric.... He was so excited!!

Intimidating the other runners pre-race. With this running pose and being labeled #1, I'm surprise the other runners even had the heart to go through with the race.

Go Eric Go!

Crossing the finish line!

No nudity...just giggles.

For some reason Emily loves peeping on folks while they're in the shower. If she hears the shower turn on she goes running to see what's going on. I was finally able to capture her in action the other day. Enjoy!

Relaxing Summertime activites....

Not too much happening at the the Adams household - we're eating our weight in watermelon, hanging outside in the evenings when it's cooler, and just pretty much taking it easy. Here's a few pictures of what we've been up to lately...
Bubbles: fun to blow, fun to catch

Seriously, we've been eating A LOT of watermelon...
Swimming and watermelon = good times.

More watermelon...
"See my watermelon hand?"

Emily goes Hollywood

Hanging with her friend, Madison. Madison is 5, Emily is 1, the angle of this picture makes Emily look like "mega-baby". I love how Madison goes right into pose mode when the camera comes out :)
Side note: Emily usually wears clothes, but we just got out of the pool. Yes, we realize this look is quite "red". :)

Emily loves the cat.... the feeling is NOT mutual.

So now that Emily is mobile and getting increasingly faster she is better able to catch, or attempt to catch, our cat Maggie. Emily LOVES Maggie. She smiles when Maggie comes into a room, she likes to watch Maggie, and she especially likes to touch Maggie. The only problem with this is that Maggie doesn't find Emily as equally amusing and definitely doesn't want to be grabbed. Maggie comes out a lot after Emily goes to bed, but during the daytime Emily and Maggie sometimes play a game of cat and mouse, with Maggie ironically being the mouse. Emily's become wise to some of Maggie's hiding spots... You can often find Maggie hiding under the bed, which means you can often find Emily in this position:
Just looking under the bed watching the kitty.

Eric installed a cat door for the stairwell which allows Maggie easy access between the upstairs and downstairs... Now you can also find Emily in this position:
Here kitty kitty...

I think the poor kitty's got her work cut out for her...

Happy (belated) 4th of July!

The Adams' didn't do too much for the 4th, but we did meet up with some friends at their campsite for dinner. Here's some pictures from the holiday:They had a tube that they pulled behind their boat, which I discovered is fun for tubing but even better as an instant babysitter

Emily met and played with a new friend (see, instant babysitter doing a great job!)

Emily decided sitting on the ground was for suckers and that she was going to take a comfy seat

There was a big bounce house there for the kiddos. Emily seemed intrigued so we put her inside, but once inside she didn't want to jump and spent the time looking as us through the mesh walls with this look.... I take this look to mean "PLEASE get me outta here PLEASE!"
Even though it's late, the Adams Family wishes you a Happy 4th of July, ya'll!
