So not much news to report from the Adams household lately. The adult Adams' were both busy with work last weekend and through the week, so this past weekend was all about catching up on activities that were put aside during the hectic week. We had to catch up on cleaning, laundry, park time (have I mentioned how Emily loves the swings!?!) and relaxation time. We accomplished the first three items on our list - finally pick up the clutter and clean floors (check), all laundry cleaned and put away (check), two parks visited complete with swing time (check), relaxing.... no so much. It was horrible weather on Saturday so when the sun came out on Sunday we decided to sit outside to just relax and enjoy the weather. I don't think Emily understands the concept of relaxation, she is a constant bundle of motion and activity. The only time we ever see her being still is when she's sleeping, no kidding, she really is in constant motion ALL THE TIME. I gave up on trying to hold her on my lap on the rocking chair and gave her the whole chair thinking she may want to relax and sit by herself - I was wrong. She made quick work of turning the rocking chair into a "surfing" chair...
I sat her in the chair and she immediately started this....

Then she quickly got into this position...

By the end she was up and riding the rocking chair/surf board.... She's ready to hang-10!

Emily the Cowgirl...

Emily's friend Liam has shared his "Ride 'em Zebra" with her since he's outgrown it. She loves the zebra; he's brightly colored, makes A LOT of noise (thanks Liam :) and you can ride him, what's not to love, right?

In this post, Emily will demonstrate how to properly enjoy such a fun toy...
Step one, be brave and grab the bull by the horns, or in this case the zebra by his bright plastic handlebar...

Step two, hold him steady and keep him under control - you gotta show the zebra who's in charge...

Step three, (and this is the most critical and difficult step that requires silence and concentration) lift the left leg over for a beautiful and graceful mount...

Step four, once you've gotten this far, look over to Mom to 1) make sure she's sees what you've done, & 2) give her a look that says "please push up my right leg onto this darn zebra because this is a far as I can get on my own".... Then Mom gives you a boost and you ride/shake the heck out of the zebra until you're ready to move on to the next activity...

Visiting the park / pseudo zoo...

The weather recently has been perfect-o (minus the 6,000+ pollen levels of course), so this past weekend the Adams' visited a local park that has a (sad)little zoo with a few animals. Basically I think the "zoo" consists of two bears, 2 bobcats, an eagle, an empty otter cage (I never see that little guy in there), 2 alligators, and an owl. I would like to say that Emily enjoyed the outing, but the following picture tells a different story....
I guess she wasn't a fan of the alligators, or maybe it was that joke Eric made about her being a snack for the gators... OR maybe she's already been trained to have a deep-seated hate for the FL Gators and assumed these poor fellows were part of the hated FL Gators clan... Either way, she wasn't overly happy with this particular stop.
After a visit to the zoo we took a stroll around the lake to check out the ducks and massive amounts of turtles. And when I say turtles there really was a freakishly large turtle population in the lake. Here's Emily and Melissa by the "turtle lake"...

Great picture placement - Emily has a rather large water fountain springing from her head :)

Go Dawgs....

On Saturday, the Adams family had a big day on UGA's campus. In the morning, we went to to Athenaze, an annual event hosted by the Classics department. There is a booksale and lecture. Eric also took part in a panel discussion regarding Latin teachers. Then after a break for lunch downtown, we attended the UGA Spring scrimmage game which is open and free to the public and concludes spring practice for the football team.
Here is Emily with Hairy Dog, the cartoonish imposter mascot for the Bulldogs.

Here Emily and Eric stand on Sanford Bridge overlooking the stadium as we leave at halftime. The reported attendance for the game was 38,000, but from the look of the stands, I think most are still standing in the concession line. The stadium itself holds 92,000.

We were able to get some primo seats, under the covering of the upper deck and seats with backs on them. We were in the endzone for the game, but the seat position with shade and comfort more than made up for the locale.

Emily apparently took exception to some idle talk of the FL Gators. She already seems to be rabid for the Fall season to begin. Game face on!

Gr-Grandma's Easter Package...

Emily received an Easter package from her Great-Grandma Connie last week. Here she is opening her gift.
She liked the bunny and outfit, but she may have liked the bow best of all. In her world the bow is the gift...

Yay! Thanks Gr-Grandma! She's loving that bunny.

The package included a really cute outfit that Emily wore on Easter. Pics below of Emily modeling said outfit.

Little rascal, I couldn't get her to look at the camera...

Still refusing to cooperate.... but I thought is was still a cute shot.
I threw this one in just because I thought it was cute. Look at that little foot - cute cute cute..

Emily visits "The Land of No Rules" aka Grandpa's...

The Adams' made the trip down to the Valley. Here's Emily and Grandpa in the new orchard site.
Also, Grandpa's place is lovingly known as the Land of No Rules because, well, there really are no rules. It's like the Wild West. Wanna shoot a gun - go right ahead. Wanna build huge fires - yep, feel free. Wanna pee outside - it's not only allowed, it's recommended.
Side note, notice the wasteland that falls before Grandpa in his pursuit to tame nature and bend it to his will in the formation of a future "fruitpocolypse". Back to the no rules idea.... in just a few years, wanna eat your weight in apples - go for it.
It's always a fun time at Grandpa's... until the ants attack and you find a snake in your bed...
