Living The Sweet Life...

This past weekend, Emily got a gingerbread man kit and decked out her man in yummy goodness. The kit came with frosting, candies and sprinkles for decorating. Melissa was in charge of frosting and Emily got to decorate however she wanted. The decorating resulted in sprinkles covering about 2/3 of the kitchen floor, but she had a great time and did a good job decorating her man.
Here she is with the final product. Notice, she wanted her man to have shoes.

Sarah wanted to get in on the action as well. (Who wouldn't want to eat a life-sized cookie?!) Here Emily fights off Sarah in a winner-take-all cookie grudge match.

To the victor go the spoils! Emily enjoys the first bite of her creation.
Judging from the sprinkles on her face and poor gingerbread man's missing foot, I'd say she enjoyed the experience.

Christmas Time is Here.... La La La (Part III)

Ok, so I think we can officially call it a tradition now. Here the family sits down for the annual viewing of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Emily, much like her father, loves Charlie Brown, so this is probably just the first of many viewings over the next few weeks.

Photo Update

So we've been a little slack lately with updates to the blog. My goal is to try to update on a more consistent basis, so I will try to hold myself to that. Below are some pictures of recent happenings in our lives.
Sarah recently reached a milestone where she gets to eat something other than milk! Albeit, still as boring as milk, but it's a step in the right direction. Here she tries rice cereal for the first time.
She was a little unsure in the beginning, but quickly warmed up to the idea of a new food.
Here Emily and Sarah share some love... awww.

Hugs all around...
Here's the family on Thanksgiving. We were able to get 3 out of 4 people looking at the camera, as Emily was trying to make a break for it!
We went to Macon for Thanksgiving celebrations. We had a great time spending the day with Dianne and her family. The food and company combined for a great day!
Here the girls pose with our generous hostess. This picture is so sweet.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We have some more photos that should be posted very soon.

October/Halloween Mega Update

The week before Halloween, the Adams family visited a local farm which had a pumkin patch and all sorts of autumn activities. Emily and Sarah were determined to select the perfect pumpkin. Here, Emily shows her prize pumkin. Obviously, she was not interested in some of the behemouths remaining in the patch. She wanted to be able to carry it herself.
Emily makes sure she has just the right one.

Melissa and Emily pose for a photo.

Eric, Emily, and Sarah do the same.

That same evening, we made a fire in the backyard to roast hot dogs and marshmallows for smores. Melissa shows her hot dog roasting technique.

Emily chills waiting for her hot dog to be ready.

Sarah: not so interested in hot dogs and smores, but contented just the same.

Later in the week, Emily and Sarah decorated their pumpkins from the farm. Apparently from the picture, it seems as Sarah has seen a ghost.

Definitely a ghost sighting.

Now on Sunday (Oct. 30), we visited the church with the Vaughns for an event called "trick or trunk." In a line outside the church, people decorated their cars, created fair-like games, and had candy for children to visit and trick or treat. Emily took the opportunity to sport her homemade ROBOT costume courtesy of Melissa. Emily loves robots.

The Trick or Trunk had a hay ride on which we all went. As you can see, Sarah was a skunk for the occassion (Dale had bought it at a yard sale earlier).

We all check out Sarah in all her skunky glory.

Our friend David Vaughn was the designated tractor driver for the hay ride. Here Brenda fixes the EMILYBOT 2000 while posing for a photo.

Sarah says: Happy Halloween everyone!!!!!!

Related? Yep, I think so...

I was searching through some older pictures of Emily and stumbled across one that reminds me of the other little person in our house...
Here's Emily at 3 months...

Here's Sarah at 3 months

I've been thinking that the girls look pretty different from each other, but think they look strikingly similar in these pictures taken at the same age... or maybe it's just that they both have the same "startled" look in these photos.

At Long Last, An Update

It has been a while since we updated the blog, so a lot has happened. Grandma Connie came to visit in September, we went to the Madison Co. Fair (quite the event- it may rival the MN State Fair), and we attended the Oconee Co. Fall festival.

Here below, Grandma and Sarah meet for the first time. Here is Sarah, rather happy and content in her changing station. Not a bit of guilt for making us change hundreds of her diapers.
During Gradma's visit, we came to Peach Co. and of course went to Lane's for some Peach Ice Cream. Here, Grandma enjoys her ice cream outside.

Later everyone relaxed in the rocking chairs. Even Emily, if not a bit restless.

Now for the series of head photos in the cutout. Emily first.

Then Sarah.

Finally, Grandma.

While visiting Ft. Valley, we all took a stroll around Dad's property. Emily rode conventionally in the wagon. Sarah, not so much. We tied the carseat carrier to the wagon with rope. Safety first at Dale's.

Back at our house, Grandma and Emily read a book. Emily usually doesn't wear shirts 50 sizes too large. For whatever reason, she thought Eric's shirt was just right for the occassion.

On the deck, four generations gather for the picture.

Sarah in her new dress from Grandma. She sure seems to like it.

We went to the Madison Co. Fair at the beginning of October. Whilst Eric plays a gambling game betting on rats to run into holes on a wheel of fortune (no - really, it is a betting game there), Emily fishes for a prize. I think the game is rigged - in the favor of the player.

Emily sits atop a John Deere. I would not trust her driving for a multitude of reasons, least of all her age and size.

On October 15th, we attended the Oconee Co. Fall Festival. Emily was most eager to ride the ponies. She drew the pony Coco, and rode in a circle... SLOWLY.

Oh that Coco. She moves like the wind. And in such an upredictable route. No wait. It was in a circle...and SLOWLY..but Emily loved it.

Sarah here demonstrates the classic baby "I see a ghost" look.

Emily and Sarah enjoy their floor gym. Emily shows Sarah the ropes. She has played here before.

Still perfecting her holding skills...

Most of the time Emily has no desire to actually hold her sister and usually says she's "too heavy." But every now and then she's game to hold her. Needless to say, she is still perfecting her holding skills. Here's the sequence of events yesterday when Emily held Sarah all by herself...
By the time I turned around to get the camera, we had a baby down..
(Side note: I love how Emily seems oblivious to the fact that her sister has crashed) :)

Ok, second try on the other side... uh-oh, she's tipping... tipping...

Really focusing this time. Look at that concentration...

Success! Both girls upright...
